PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says no one should hide in a foreign country and push hate speech on social media platforms.
The President observed that some people hiding in the diaspora are spreading lies and creating an impression that there is trouble in Zambia, which undermines the environment the government is working hard to improve in order to attract investment.
“We are working on it slowly but surely, because our country’s interests must always come first. You cannot pursue personal interests outside our jurisdiction by sending falsehoods and allowing our children to consume messages of hate. That is not right.
“Some of these colleagues are known to us, and we should encourage them to be responsible in their actions,” he said.
President Hichilema said Zambia is more important than anything else.
“This country is all we have. Therefore, we are asking every Zambian to rise to a high standard of patriotism, integrity, and peaceful coexistence before, during, and after elections. We are calling for personal commitment to this issue,” he said.
President Hichilema further said the country should remain stable and secure before, during, and after elections.
“Elections are a democratic process, but ultimately we want the country to remain stable and secure so that we can focus on development.
“We may be unhappy about one or two issues, but let us address them constructively rather than destroying our country. As citizens, we must reject all forms of violence and say no to hate speech,” he said.

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says over the last four years, the United Party for National Development (UPND) has made progress in fostering patriotism and national unity.
Speaking when he addressed the nation on the progress made in the application of national values and principles during the Fifth Session of the 13th National Assembly, President Hichilema said the UPND administration has made steady progress in promoting Zambian products in order to support businesses and hardworking citizens.
He added that under the UPND New Dawn administration, there has been an unprecedented reduction in political violence and cadreism in the country.
“Under our watch, there is no room for political violence. There is no room for cadreism. There is no room for lawlessness. Let me be clear, no one is above the law,” President Hichilema said.
He further stated that the country’s stable and peaceful environment has attracted unprecedented investment, which is translating into more jobs, businesses, and other opportunities.
“Access to information and media freedom remains fundamental to democratic governance. Our administration has undertaken legal reforms to modernise the media landscape in the country,” President Hichilema said.

AS the country goes to the polls on Thursday, 13 August 2026, President Hakainde Hichilema has urged every Zambian to rise to the highest standards of patriotism, integrity and peaceful co-existence before, during and after the elections.
Speaking when he addressed the nation this morning on the progress made in the application of national values and principles to the Fifth Session of the 13th National Assembly, the President said citizens must reject all forms of violence and say no to hate speech.
“We all must abhor cybercrimes. We must reject divisive politics. These vices have absolutely no place in our society,” he said.
President Hichilema also called on all political actors, candidates, supporters, civil society, the church, traditional leaders, students, youths, the media and all citizens to demonstrate the highest level of restraint, respect and responsibility as the country heads to the polls.
“We call upon every citizen to contribute towards the realisation of greater national unity and development as we reiterate our commitment to delivery and to moving Zambia forward together. We call upon every citizen to abide by our guiding principle: One Zambia, One Nation, One People,” he said.
President Hichilema said the New Dawn administration will remain focused on delivering improved well-being for the people.
He also called on citizens to embrace national values and principles, describing them as an embodiment of who Zambians are as a people.
The President said the country’s national character and policy choices are firmly anchored in these values and principles.
“As such, notwithstanding the tremendous progress we have made together, we still have more work to do,” he said.
President Hichilema added that it is every Zambian’s duty to turn national values and principles into action, driven by love and deep care for people and the nation’s well-being.

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has relieved the Minister of Health and the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development of their duties with immediate effect.
This is according to a statement issued by Clayson Hamasaka, Chief Communications Specialist at State House.
“President Hakainde Hichilema has relieved the Minister of Health, Honourable Elijah Muchima, MP, and the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Honourable Elias Mubanga, MP, of their duties with immediate effect,” Mr Hamasaka said.
He said the President’s decision is in accordance with Article 116 (3) (a) of the
Mr Hamasaka added that the President has conveyed his appreciation to Dr Muchima and Mr Mubanga for their service to the Government of the and extended his best wishes for their future endeavours.
He said the Head of State will announce their successors in due course.
