IMAGINE an expectant mother giving birth in a car, not because labour started at an awkward hour, but because of the long distance one needed to cover to get to the nearest health facility with a maternity wing. As terrible as this sounds, this was the reality in Musenga Ward, Chingola Constituency, just two years ago, before the enhanced Constituency Development Fund (CDF) was introduced. This is why the construction of a maternity wing at Musenga Community Health Post has brought joy and relief to both residents and lawmakers.
