High Court upholds Lusambo’s 4-year sentence


THE Economic and Financial Crimes Court, High Court Division, has upheld the four-year jail sentence handed to Bowman Lusambo by the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court for corruption. This follows after High Court Justices Susan Wanjelani, Pixie Yangailo and Anne Malata-Ononuju dismissed all six grounds of Lusambo’s appeal. In November 2024, the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court, Economic and Financial Crimes Court, sentenced Lusambo, who is former Kabushi PF MP to four years imprisonment with hard labour on corruption charges. Lusaka Magistrate Faides Hamaundu also fined Lusambo K27,000 for tax evasion. However, Magistrate Hamaundu acquitted Lusambo’s wife, Nancy, who he was jointly charged with, of all charges related to possession of property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.
