POLICE have clarified that a video trending on social media, which appears to show supervisors searching a female employee while she is pinned to the ground, is linked to a case involving alleged forgery, uttering of false documents and theft by servant.
According to police, the video shows two Chinese nationals restraining a female employee.
In a statement, Deputy Public Relations Officer Chipo Kaitisha said the incident relates to a reported case of forgery, uttering of false documents and theft by servant involving employees of ZAMFRESH Company, located along Mungwi Road in Lusaka West.
Ms Kaitisha said the report was made on March 1, 2026, around 09:00 hours by Cheng Longin, aged 40, a Chinese national and representative of the company.
“It is alleged that the company cashier, Ruth Banda, aged 23, in collaboration with her supervisor, Charles Manze, forged a company invoice and subsequently stole company funds amounting to K14,000.
“Brief facts of the matter are that on March 1, 2026, around 08:30 hours, Mr Abraham Zulu, aged 54, a cold room supervisor at ZAMFRESH, discovered that a consignment of 240 kilogrammes of fish valued at K14,000 had been released to an unknown customer without a corresponding invoice. He immediately alerted his supervisor, Mr Yang Ke Yong,” she said.
Ms Kaitisha said while management was conducting internal inquiries regarding the irregular release of the consignment, the cashier was allegedly observed attempting to leave the cashier’s office with a handbag suspected to contain company funds.
She said as the cashier allegedly attempted to flee the premises, two Chinese supervisors restrained her.
Ms Kaitisha said during the commotion, some customers recorded the incident, resulting in the video now circulating on social media.
“During the process, the suspect reportedly dropped money near the cashier’s office door. Police officers were alerted, visited the scene and reviewed CCTV footage, which corroborated the sequence of events. A total of K7,500 suspected to have been stolen has since been recovered from the suspect,” she said.
Ms Kaitisha said the second suspect, Charles Manze, who is believed to have acted jointly with the cashier, fled the scene and is currently on the run.
“The Zambia Police Service wishes to inform members of the public that the individuals seen in the video were restraining the suspect pending police intervention following the alleged commission of an offence. The matter remains under active investigation, and due process is being followed,” Ms Kaitisha said.
She cautioned members of the public to refrain from speculation and the circulation of misleading information, as investigations are ongoing.

The suspect, identified as Mary Kachilika, is married to Titus Kamanga in a polygamous union alongside her co-wife, Fanny Kanyinji, the mother of the deceased children.
The children are aged six and two. It is alleged that Kachilika, who joined the marriage in January last year, had grown resentful of her co-wife for having children, as she had been unable to conceive with their husband since entering the marriage, which allegedly led to her actions.
Police deputy public relations officer Chipo Kaitisha confirmed the incident in a statement.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the complainant is in a polygamous marriage, having married his second wife on January 10, 2025.The second wife reportedly experienced disputes arising from jealousy, as one wife has children while the other does not.
