  • Proposal to remove ballot paper stamp came from parties – ECZ


    THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says the suggestion to remove the official mark on ballot papers came from stakeholders, mainly politicians. ECZ Acting Director of Electoral Operations Wina Mwanamonga adds that the Zambian electoral process is admired worldwide because it leaves no room for rigging. Speaking during a public debate on Zambia’s preparedness for elections, Mwanamonga explained that the removal of the official mark was a demand that came from stakeholders. “The Commission operates by law. The current law states that the ballot paper should have an official mark. Now, like I indicated, after each election, the Commission conducts a post-election review, even after by-elections, we conduct a post-election review.
