The Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency (ZCSA) says the attainment of ISO 17020 international accreditation by Africa Automotive Analysis (AAA) is a major step towards improving the safety and quality of imported used vehicles in the country.
AAA, a local motor vehicle inspection company operating at the Nakonde border, recently obtained the accreditation from the Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS).
The company is a local partner of Auto Terminal Japan (ATJ), a ZCSA-appointed agent responsible for conducting roadworthiness inspections for used motor vehicles imported for use in Zambia.

In a statement issued on Thursday, ZCSA Executive Director, Gerald Chizinga, said AAA’s attainment of ISO 17020 Category A accreditation from KENAS provided independent recognition of its inspection services and strengthens trust among regulators, consumers and trade partners.
ZCSA enforces the Zambian Standard ZS 560, a code of practice for the inspection and testing of used motor vehicles for roadworthiness, through a pre-shipment inspection scheme implemented by appointed agents in exporting countries.
