BREAKING: Houthis Launch Retaliatory Strike on Saudi Arabia’s Abha International Airport
Yemen’s Houthi movement has launched what it described as a retaliatory attack on Saudi Arabia’s Abha International Airport, saying the operation was carried out in response to earlier strikes targeting Sanaa International Airport.
According to Houthi military statements, the attack was intended as a direct response to what the group called Saudi “aggression” against Yemen’s main airport. The Houthis have vowed that attacks on Yemeni infrastructure will be met with reciprocal military action, warning that further operations could follow if additional strikes occur.
Initial reports indicate that Abha International Airport was targeted by missiles, with some accounts also mentioning the use of drones. Saudi air defense systems reportedly attempted to intercept the incoming projectiles. As of now, Saudi authorities have not confirmed the full extent of any damage or casualties, and independent verification of all battlefield claims remains limited.
The latest exchange marks a sharp escalation in tensions after a period of relative calm along the Saudi-Yemen front. Analysts warn that renewed cross-border attacks could further destabilize the region and threaten the fragile de-escalation that has largely held since the 2022 truce.
