🎙️ Donald Trump dropped it Monday from the Oval Office: his administration is investigating whether Iran has drones stored in Cuba. And he went further, telling reporters that if the drones are there, and he believes it is very possible they are, Washington will take care of it. He insisted the U.S. will not allow it to happen.
🛰️ What lies behind it is chilling: since May, reports based on U.S. intelligence have claimed the island may have acquired more than 300 military-grade drones since 2023 with support from Iran and Russia, and that Cuban officials allegedly discussed hypothetical plans to use them against the Guantanamo naval base, U.S. vessels and even Key West, Florida.
🇨🇺 Havana rejects it all. Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez accused Washington of fabricating a fraudulent dossier to justify new measures against the country, calling the whole case a manufactured pretext.
⛔ Meanwhile, the pressure keeps climbing: the State Department announced sanctions against ten entities tied to the Cuban government, including state-run fuel import companies.
🧭 The detail setting off every alarm is geographic: Cuba sits about 90 miles from the Florida coast. If the investigation confirms Iranian drones on the island, the security map of the Caribbean could change overnight.
