Ex-Leicester City Star Reveals How Ndidi and Iheanacho Used ‘Juju Cream’ for Injury Recovery
Former Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has shared a light-hearted story about his former teammates, Super Eagles stars Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho.
According to a report by Soccernet, Vardy recalled his time with Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi during a recent podcast, shedding light on their approach to recovering from injuries.
Vardy revealed that Ndidi and Iheanacho would occasionally travel to Nigeria after sustaining minor injuries before returning with what he described as a “juju cream” used in their recovery routine.
“They used to get injured, just little knocks, then they’d go back to Nigeria for one day literally, come back, and then they’ve got a nice big tub of juju cream,” Vardy said.
He added that the cream was the only substance the club’s massage therapists were allowed to apply to the affected areas, with the pair explaining that it had been obtained from a Nigerian witch doctor.
Ndidi and Iheanacho both joined Leicester City in 2017, two years after the Foxes’ memorable Premier League title triumph.
The Nigerian internationals went on to establish themselves as important members of the squad and played significant roles in Leicester’s successful 2020-21 FA Cup campaign.
During their time at the King Power Stadium, the duo formed a strong partnership with Vardy, who spent 13 years at Leicester and became one of the club’s greatest-ever players.
Since leaving the Foxes, both Ndidi and Iheanacho have moved on to new chapters in their careers.
Vardy also departed Leicester last summer, joining Serie A side Cremonese, where he recorded seven goals and two assists in 29 appearances during the 2025-26 season.
