Russia Expands Visa-Free Travel Agreements with African Nations
Russia has expanded its network of visa-free travel agreements with African countries, with 17 nations now benefiting from bilateral arrangements that allow easier entry into the country.
Citizens holding ordinary passports from South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Mauritius, Seychelles, and Cape Verde can travel to Russia without a visa for short-term visits. Meanwhile, holders of diplomatic and official passports from Morocco, Tunisia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Angola, Ethiopia, Guinea, and Mali are also covered under separate visa-free agreements.
The move is widely seen as part of Moscow’s broader strategy to strengthen its ties with African nations by promoting closer cooperation in trade, education, security, and diplomacy, while expanding political and economic engagement across the continent.
