The Given Lubinda-led faction of the Patriotic Front has officially withdrawn from the Tonse Alliance and formed a new political grouping called the PF Pamodzi Alliance.
Announcing the development on Wednesday, faction acting leader Given Lubinda said the decision followed what he described as continued confusion and internal disagreements within the Tonse Alliance.
Speaking during the unveiling of the new alliance in Lusaka, Lubinda urged faction members to cease associating with former alliance partners, insisting that loyalty moving forward must be to the PF Pamodzi Alliance.
He encouraged young people—on the eve of Youth Day—to remain united and work only with members of the new political bloc.
“The PF Pamodzi Alliance is the only political formation capable of unseating Hakainde Hichilema and his government in the upcoming elections,” Lubinda said.

He added that the faction’s council of leaders and central committee met earlier in the week and resolved to formally abandon the Tonse Alliance.
Lubinda said the newly formed alliance seeks to unite political parties, civic organisations and grassroots supporters who align with its vision.
“We want to launch the latest, the most positive alliance that is going to remove the new alliance. Ladies and gentlemen, introducing the PF Pamodzi Alliance,” he said.
The PF faction has since called on its members and other political groupings to rally behind the new formation ahead of the 2026 elections.
