POLICE have recorded warn-and-caution statements from politician Saboi Imboela, 47, and Mambwe Zimba, 43, in connection with allegations of creating a document without authority.
It is alleged that the duo provided false information to the Electoral Commission of Zambia by signing an adoption certificate for James Phiri during the December 2025 Chawama parliamentary by-election on behalf of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Police spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi said the matter follows a complaint filed by Stephen Chewe of the National Democratic Congress, which was reported on December 23, 2025.
“Investigations are ongoing, and more details will be provided in due course. After the interviews, the duo was allowed to leave,” he said.

MEDIA Personality Daisy Lusumpa, alias, Chichi Daisy, has applied that the cyber-harrassment case against fellow media personality Mutale Mwanza be withdrawn.
Through her lawyers, Ms Lusumpa, has written to the Director of Public Prosecutions Gilbert Phiri to have the case withdrawn.
When the case came up this morning, the prosecution team informed the court that it was in receipt of the withdrawal letter.
It will now be upto the DPP to either allow or reject the application to have the matter withdrawn.
The court case is linked to utterances made by Ms Mwanza after the 2024 Diamond TV Personality of the Year Awards (POTYAS).
Ms Mwanza is accused of posting defamatory remarks on her Facebook page, “M-Nation,” accusing Ms Lusumpa.
Ms Lusumpa filed a criminal complaint at police, leading to the arrest of 38-year-old Ms Mwanza, who was later charged with harassment utilizing means of electronic communication, contrary to Section 69 of the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act.
It is alleged that on November 7, 2024, Ms Mwanza used her Facebook page- M-Nation-with the intention to intimidate, harass or cause emotional distress to Ms Lusumpa.
Ms Mwanza allegedly published derogatory words against Ms Lusumpa, whom she also accused of having an affair with a named politician called “Bowman”
She pleaded not guilty to the charge read by Lusaka magistrate Mbuywana Sinvula and one witness has testified so far.
When the case resumed today, the magistrate was told that the complainant applied to withdraw the case.

A Lusaka businessman has appeared in court facing multiple offences, including possession of a firearm without a licence and ownership of property suspected to be proceeds of crime.
Martin Mbaya, who is in his 50s, appeared before Lusaka Magistrate Paul Namakando facing five criminal charges.
In one count, it is alleged that on April 21, 2024, Mbaya had in his possession a 9 millimetre pistol without a licence and was also in unlawful possession of ammunition.
The accused, a reported Patriotic Front (PF) member and family associate of former president Edgar Lungu, is also accused of uttering false documents.
When the matter was called, State prosecutor Stuyvesant Malambo informed the court that the case had not yet been allocated to a prosecutor.
Magistrate Namakando urged the prosecution team to put its house in order, considering that the matter is before the time-bound Economic and Financial Crimes Court.
The case was adjourned to today for a status conference in readiness for a possible plea and trial.
In 2024, the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) arrested Mbaya for various offences.
In a statement, DEC public relations officer Allan Tamba said the accused was found in possession of a Toyota Land Cruiser reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.
It was also alleged that he had a Girsan pistol with 96 rounds of ammunition without holding a licence.
Mr Tamba further said that between January 2022 and April 21, 2024, Mbaya allegedly forged a firearm licence with intent to deceive, falsely purporting it to have been genuinely issued by the Lusaka City Council.
It is further alleged that the purportedly forged licence was uttered to DEC.

The National Prosecution Authority (NPA) intends to file an appeal against the sentence imposed on Kitwe-based businesswoman Khadijah Agatha Mingel, a Kitwe based businesswomen.
Khadija was yesterday convicted for drug trafficking after being found in possession of 500 grammes of cocaine, a serious offence under our laws.
But the State feels the three year jail term reduced to 18 months, through a suspension was too lenient and it will appeal against it.
“The appeal will challenge the leniency of the sentence imposed by the subordinate court.
The National Prosecution Authority has taken the view that the sentence imposed does not adequately reflect the seriousness of the offence,” NPA said in a statement.
NPA notes that drug trafficking remains a significant concern for law enforcement authorities, with dangerous narcotics increasingly finding their way into communities and contributing to addiction and related criminal activity.
The prosecution maintains that sentences imposed for drug trafficking offences must provide a meaningful deterrent in order to disrupt the illicit drug trade and protect the public.
“For this reason, the State will formally lodge an appeal against the sentence.
The matter will consequently proceed to the High Court, where the appellate court will consider the State’s arguments regarding the sentence imposed.
“The High Court will determine whether the sentence passed by the trial court was appropriate in the circumstances of the case, or whether it ought to be revised in accordance with the law,”
NPA adds that it has restated its commitment to ensuring that offences involving dangerous drugs are prosecuted firmly and that sentences imposed reflect the gravity of such crimes and their impact on society.
