ZAMMSA receives bulk medicine consignment from Egypt


GOVERNMENT has begun receiving 30 containers of medicines and medical supplies from Egypt, a consignment expected to provide an average of eight months’ stock cover for several essential medicines. ZAMMSA Acting Director General Liyoka Liyoka says the medicines, which include antibiotics and antihypertensives, will be distributed nationwide to improve service delivery and minimise stockouts. Meanwhile, Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for Technical Services Dr Kennedy Lishimpi says with the available health centre kits and the consignment received from Egypt, over 80 percent of medicines should be available across the entire health system.
