MONZE HEADMEN REJECT JACK MWIMBU’S BID FOR SIXTH TERM, BRAND DONATIONS ‘BRIBES’‎

‎MONZE HEADMEN REJECT JACK MWIMBU’S BID FOR SIXTH TERM, BRAND DONATIONS ‘BRIBES’.

By John Shikabe

‎Over 20 headmen in Ufwenuka Chiefdom in Monze District have described the donation of second-hand clothes and other charity works by Monze Central Member of Parliament Jack Mwimbu as a way of bribing the community to give him another chance to clock 30 years in Parliament.

‎Speaking on behalf of the headmen, Chief Ufwenuka representative Kizito Hamuchenkwa said that the traditional leadership in Ufwenuka is not ready to give Monze Central Member of Parliament Jack Mwimbu another chance, as he has failed the chiefdom in terms of development.

‎Speaking during the celebration of delimitated Constituencies, the traditional leader said the people of Monze have given Jack Mwimbu a chance to rule for 25 years, and this time they want to try someone else whom they feel will deliver on the community’s expectations.

‎He said all his donations of cement and second-hand clothes by Jack Mwimbu would have been done in his 25 years, not this time when he saw that elections are near.

‎And Chiiya Biggie, the Vice Chairperson of Mobilization under UPND in Monze District, has challenged Jack Mwimbu to pave the way for new people to transform Monze District better.

‎He said Jack Mwimbu has failed to bring tangible development  in Monze Central constituency despite holding a ministrial postion.

‎Mr. Chiiya said Mwimbu has even failed to work on the Mulonga wangoma bridge that connects the people of St. Mary’s area, where he comes from, to Monze Town, apart from giving empty hope to the people of St. Mary’s area.

‎Meanwhile, Monze Central Member of Parliament Jack Mwimbu has maintained his position of standing for his sixth term to clock 30 years as a member of parliament for Monze.

‎He said much development has been achieved under his leadership through the utilization of the Constituency Development Fund.

‎Jack Mwimbu became the Member of Parliament (MP) for Monze Central in 2001. He has held the seat for the United Party for National Development (UPND) continuously since that time, winning subsequent elections in 2006, 2011, 2016, and 2021. As of 2026, he is considered one of Zambia’s longest-serving MPs.

A child that was born when he was first elected MP is old enough to contest against him yet he doesn’t care. UPND has the advantage of the amended constitution but still have a mountain to climb over long serving but no development MPs. Should UPND be as regid as it was in opposition in the adoption process, HH will have a parliament full of independent MPs
As much as I agree with the people’s decision to support another candidate I don’t think we Zambians are realistic with our demands from MPs. They are lawmakers. They debate bills and pass statutes It’s not their job to bring infrastructure to the constituency or to build hospitals or schools. It’s government via its various depts that does that. So if you chase Mwimbu, chase his government too because it isn’t working for you.
Take a look at South Africa. The MPs dont bring tractors to dig boreholes and pave roads for the community. Various wings of government do that. The constituencies don’t exist there-meaning you don’t vote for your MP
These were in Parliament in the 2002-2006 stretch: (25 years in politics lying to people)
Jack Mwiimbu, Sylvia Masebo, Given Lubinda, Mutale Nalumango, Sakeiba Sikota, Batuke Imenda, Felix Mutati, Kapembwa Siambao and Nkandu Luo.
These were in Parliament in the 2007-2011 stretch: ( almost 20 years in politics lying to people)
Hivie Hamududu, Chifumu Banda, Charles Milupi, Gary Nkombo, Peter Daka, Elijah Muchima, Chishimba Kambwili and Douglas Siakalima.
These were in Parliament in the 2011- 2016 stretch: ( almost 15 years in politics lying to people)
Cornelius Mweetwa, Harry Kalaba, Reuben Mutolo Phiri, Malozo Sichone, Greyford Moonde, Obvious Mwaliteta, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, Situmbeko Musokotwane, Jean Kapata, Miles Sampa, David Mabumba and Steven Kampyongo.
These people have been in politics for do long that those who were born whilst they warmed Parliament seats grew up to stand against them to seek service to the nation.
They have lied, changed political parties and are still lying. Do far only Douglas Syakalima is delivering any meaningful development. The rest are just thieves who want to remain and continue stealing.
Some like Given Lubinda are out but still fighting to go back and continue where they left.
Our constitution should block any person who has clocked 10 years from not only serving in Parliament but also not being influential politically in this country where in opposition or ruling parties.
This will pave way for new brains and create a sanitary environment with fresh air at all times in our nation’s politics.
I rest my case.
You right leadership on that one.We need new blood in parliament
It doesn’t make much sense when you are including the years when UPND was still in opposition. There’s no MP who made meaningful development whilst in opposition and under PF it was worse because they completely sidelined not only Consistencies but also some entire Provinces especially Southern Province. So whatever was happening in Ufwenuka and Monze Central in general, is is also what was happening in Bweengwa, Namwala and other Constituencies. Stop blaming Jack Mwiimbu for the problem that was not his own making. Zambia has seen the really development after President HH has unlocked the CDF disbursing the money to all the Constituencies countrywide. We need to be as objective as possible when analyzing certain political issues, the period we count here is 2022 – 2026.
