VETERAN politician Vernon Mwaanga says he is praying for God to give President Hakainde Hichilema another five-year term.
Mwaanga, who recently celebrated his 82th birthday, said President Hichilema needed to continue for another five years to ensure his vision of a better Zambia is achieved.
He added that despite inheriting an economy which was in ruin, President Hichilema had grown the economy, reduced inflation and strengthened the exchange rate among other achievements.
“Just to let you know that two days ago on 25th June, I attained 82 years. It is been a long journey and some of you have been a part of this long journey. It has been a life of service to Zambia and its people. My best may not have been the best, but no man can be expected to do more than his best. Let us work together and continue to put Zambia first and scrupulously observe the important motto ” ONE ZAMBIA, ONE NATION”, which has held our country together for 62 years. I always pray for our President Mr Hakainde Hichilema and asking God to give him five more years as President of our country, so that his vision of a better Zambia for all Zambians,” said Mwaanga.
“Considering what he inherited in 2021, he has uplifted our country from economic ruin to a lively and growing economy, inflation has reduced to single digits, GNP growth was above five percent in 2025, the kwacha has strengthened against all other world currencies, investor confidence has grown to the highest level, loadshedding has become a thing of the past, we now have free education, substantially enhanced foreign exchange reserves and the list of his achievements is long. The people of Zambia are not blind to these achievements and their votes on 13th August, will speak for him. I want to thank all those who have worked and supported him during the last 5 years. Let them support him even more up to 2031”.
