Alcohol most used drug among mine workers – Report


A RAPID Assessment of the Drugs and HIV Situation in Zambia’s Mining Communities has revealed that alcohol is the most commonly used drug among mine workers. The report has also indicated that cannabis is the second most prevalent drug, with one quarter of mine workers using it daily. The assessment further revealed that drug use and risks of HIV transmission are influenced by working conditions, access to health services and socio-economic pressures within mining communities.
