ANDYFORD BANDA PULLS OUT AS PRESIDENTIAL RUNNING MATE

The Organized People’s Party (OPP) wishes to inform the public that Mr. Andyford Banda has stepped down as our vice-presidential running mate.
We fully respect his decision, thank him for his dedication to our shared journey, and wish him the very best moving forward.
Following this development, we have officially notified the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) and requested guidance on the next legal steps. The OPP will fully comply with the law and the directives issued by the Commission.
Our party remains united, focused, and deeply committed to providing Zambians with the credible, practical, and principled leadership our country deserves. Our vision and our promises to the people of Zambia stand firm.
We will provide a formal update to the nation as soon as we receive further guidance from the Electoral Commission.

Awe mwandi ni circus in this year’s elections
Without the 2026 constitutional amendments, the resignation of Andyford Banda from the election race would have resulted in the nullification of all the other presidential election nominations and fresh nominations would have been held. Just whose idea was it to insert such a wacky provision in the constitution? And how come ALL the legal “experts” failed to flag it?
This is a circus. Andyford Banda had his own party where he initially allowed Dolika Banda to be Presidential candidate for 2026 but later changed his mind to stand himself. Then he seems to have quickly realized that he cannot win and joined forces with Mushimba’s party as running mate! Only to realize again that the two cannot win. Now, let us wait and see what the ECZ will say about this legal status.
