IF PRESIDENT HH SAYS HE IS READY TO STAY AWAY, LET’S RIDE ON IT AND BURY ECL IN ZAMBIA – SIAME
UNITED Church of Zambia (UCZ) Lusaka Presbytery Bishop, Lordwell Siame, has welcomed remarks by Attorney General, Mulilo Kabesha, indicating that President, Hakainde Hichilema, is willing to stay away from the funeral of former President, Edgar Lungu, if it will facilitate his burial in Zambia.
Speaking in an interview with RCV News in Lusaka, Bishop Siame urged the President to stand by his position in order to bring closure to the matter and avoid prolonged back-and-forth disagreements.
However, the Bishop questioned the delay in reaching this decision, noting that while the move is welcome, some damage may have already been caused to the bereaved family.
He has since called on the mediation and negotiating team handling the burial arrangements to take advantage of the President’s stance and work towards a consensus between the State and the family.
“Now that the Head of State is willing not to attend, the negotiating team must use this opportunity to ensure the matter is concluded, with both parties reaching an agreement,” said Bishop Siame.
Meanwhile, Bishop Siame has expressed concern over derogatory remarks made by some UPND members against the late President, warning that such statements risk deepening tensions and delaying consensus.
He has also appealed to the Lungu family to accept the President’s position to help bring the matter to a close.

Another useless pretender association of the church
It’s too late for this now.
According to the Attorney General, Mulilo Kabesha ‘s “True Lies” , the President HE Hakainde Hichilema presented his position of staying away from the burial of the late Edgar Lungu, 11 months ago, in May 2025 when the former President was still alive.
The Premise is already within a Perimeter of Lies.Liars are never consistent ..and dates usually confuse them.
We are dealing with ” True Liar” Mulilo Kabesha who has lost all credibility.
This beside, the body of the late Dr Edgar Lungu was taken from the Two Mountains Funeral Parlour in the night of Wednesday 22nd April and the ” True Liar ” Mulilo Kabesha claimed that he was enforcing the 8th August Gauteng high court Judgement, for the repatriation of the body to Zambia..
Without the ADC, Physician, Family, and the Sheriff to enforce the Judgement, the body was removed from the Morgue , and turned over to a
facility for Post Mortem…and further not withstanding the fact that the case for an Inquest was active in the Magistrate Court with a scheduled hearing for 29th May, 2026.
The Post Mortem was done with a High Court Order stating that the body of the late Edgar Lungu be returned to the Lungu family immediately…
And it was done without the Presence of the family of the late President!
Ba Bishop, this case has now become very complicated.
It will be extremely difficult for the Lungu family to accept any role for the Hakainde government in the Funeral of the late President. It will be a tough call.
Where do the mediators even start from?
Let the Family bury the late President in South Africa, and sometime in future when there’s healing in the Nation, a state Funeral can be arranged.
There is nothing for healing we just have to open a new page we put the body to rest and maintain peace.The fault finding situation will not help us.Who is wrong and right must end.It’s like everyone wants to show they are thinking correctly and others don’t.The best is to consider that we only have one country Zambia to care for.Political and legal battles will not give us relief.
