TRUMP THREATENS UPND GOVERNMENT: LETS IF HH HAS A SPINE LIKE MWANAWASA
=====================
Trump has told Zambia that it will have to provide preferential mineral supply to the US – or risk a massive cut in healthcare funding which will affect millions of people.
Zambia must decide by today, Thursday, if it will provide US businesses with preferential access to its minerals.
A decision to not provide this access could result in the loss of support for 1.3 million people who rely on US funding for HIV treatment.
Mwanawasa once told off the US to go to hell over the supply of GMO maize to Zambia during the 2003 drought.
Will HH succumb to such an awful demand? Time to reckon on national sovereignty has come. Lets see if he will have the same sovereignty resolve of bringing ECL remains to Zambia for the so called dignified burial.
Iwe Chilamba
This is not about HH vs LPM.Dont you surely understand that this is a national emergency! What’s wrong with you.Trump has threatened a million lives of Zambians and you are thinking it’s a game of blinkmanship?
Stop smoking..shaa!!
The war needs copper bullets.Copper price should go up as well.Time for Zambia to make money.We can still buy our Medication from India and Europe
To compare relief aid with medical aid is being simplistic. Mr. Sinkamba seems to gloat over the dilemma HH is facing. For him it is politics as usual. When people start dying due to lack of medication, Mr. Sinkamba will be the first one to lob missiles at the government.
Personally, I would prefer the Zambian government turns down this lopsided deal. We cannot exchange our inheritance for a bowl of soup. Posterity will judge us harshly if we trade our minerals for temporary relief. The fact is with or without medication, people will die. It is the final destiny of all life. So let the US keep their medication. We will retain full control of our resources. With prudent use of the same resources, we can eventually pay for the same medication. Initially the cost will be high in terms of human life but the nation will be better off in economic terms and independence.
If the US withdraw their medical aid, we should also retaliate by denying them access to our minerals. They need our mineral resources more than we need their medication.
Mr. President, donot allow yourself to be pressured into making a decision that will betray our future generations by trading our minerals worth billions of dollars for temporal medical relief worth a billion dollars in addition to giving the US access to our medical data.
This is an existential threat and Mr. Sinkamba should not be playing politics. We must rally behind the government in rejecting this selfish move by the US no matter the cost in human life. After all we are all destined to die no matter how much medication is available.
