Auditor General will be appointed once State Audit Commission is constituted – Kabesha
ATTORNEY General Mulilo Kabesha has insisted to the Constitutional Court that the appointment of Acting Auditor General Dr Ron Mwambwa is intended to ensure continuity in the discharge of constitutional functions. Kabesha has submitted that Dr Mwambwa was not appointed as substantive Auditor General, adding that the position does not require ratification. He adds that once the State Audit Commission is constituted, a substantive Auditor General will be appointed in accordance with the Constitution. In this matter, LAZ petitioned the State in the Constitutional Court, challenging Dr Mwambwa’s continued occupation of the office of Auditor General despite being above the prescribed retirement age.
