Reports circulating on the ground in Mazabuka Central claim that Garry Nkombo was allegedly confronted and attacked by suspected cadres while attempting to proceed with his nomination process as an independent parliamentary candidate ahead of the upcoming general elections.
According to these reports, a group of individuals is said to have tried to block his entry during the nomination activity, leading to a confrontation that allegedly turned violent. This is a very disturbing incident.
I remember the day Garry Nkombo wept at the election results centre when President Hakainde Hichilema was declared the winner of the 2021 presidential election. Today, Garry finds himself subjected to the very kind of treatment that many Zambians believed they had voted against.
May this moment serve as a sobering mark on Zambia’s political landscape. It is my sincere hope that the President will publicly denounce what transpired against Mr. Nkombo today.
But those are not UPND cadres, they are just hooligans disguising as UPND cadres hired by his rivals. They are already feeling the heat.
Garry will beat everyone. He has to be given a sympathy vote!

It is disgraceful that we should be witnessing such base behaviour by the UPND. And where were the police? Why did they not arrest the perpetrators of this vilonce? Arrest the thugs immediately!
Mr. Nkombo is free to stand as an independent and does not need permission from anyone to do so.
The ECZ will soon officially announce the beginning of the campaigns. No one should be denied permission by the police to hold rallies. There is no excuse. The campaign season is official. We do not want to hear silly excuses like security or lack of personnel or the president is in town.
This unfortunate stupid attempt will cost heavily as a example of intolerance and violence within the party. How reckless can one be to do this foolishness in a tense time of elections.
The law must take its course here. You want to cause violence within the country from within the part? This is definitely self defeating. Please tell these hot headed holigans to to go sit in cold water and cool off.
This barbaric attitude arrogance and thuggery behavior displayed will not be tolerated by any well meaning Zambian. Who do these guys sent to cause confusion think they are? Do they think they own us the voters. Madness.
It is a constitutional right for any Zambian to freely participate in the governance of this country. If he is not adopted within and not needed he is free to stand as an independent. Who are you to even lay your filthy hands on him. Your nomination still stands so chill. Guys don’t annoy us.
The party should not be turned into a God where everyone should go and bow to. This stupid confusion and behavior is casting a very bad negative dislike of an organisation which by now must be mature in the discharge of public meetings.
This type of behavior only occurs where people stop thinking. Have you not chosen the preffered candidate to go with as a party? This man has acknowledged that and has accepted your rejection of his services and wants to stand on an independent ticket.
Why are you now vexed. Are you not comfortable to win freely and fairly using the ballot box? This is illogical and unfair guys. Grow up and stand by your decisions. Don’t impose your selves on other peoples lives. Release them respectfully and allow them to contest on a fair ground. These are just politics , no body needs to die to quench your thirst for power.
It is now very clear that this man is facing internal hatred though you know he is a game changer on the ground.
There is need to stop this madness quickly before the party losses popularity because of stupidity. A lot of work has been put in by our President to allow a few people destroy what has been strategically built. Building an image is not easy. These thugs being unleashed will destroy every thing labored for and voters will resent this negative urgly head of violence.
