GARY NKOMBO DESCRIBES ARREST OF HIS ASSAILANTS AS “DRESS REHEARSAL”
LATEST: GARY NKOMBO DESCRIBES ARREST OF HIS ASSAILANTS AS “DRESS REHEARSAL”
Former Mazabuka MP Gary Njombo has disclosed that the arrest of the suspected UPND cadres who attacked him and his Wife and attempted to block him from filing in his nomination was only a “dress rehearsal”.
Mr Nkombo says the suspects were only thrown in the police cells for a few minutes and granted police bond and that the police are trying to dupe the whole country that they arrested the perpetrators by parading them in front of cameras.
Mr Nkombo has since vowed to pursue the mater upto it’s logical conclusion in the courts of law.
Maz FM
I would urge Mr. Nkombo to pursue the matter to its logical conclusion. The thugs who assaulted him and his wife belong in prison.
They are a disgrace to the human race.
Zambia police are used to operating under instructions from ruling political party leaders. They never act on their own authority when it comes to ruling political party hooligans. This is so entrenched in the psyche of all policemen that it will take ages before they can stand on their own. Perhaps Zambia should ask for help from the British government to RE TRAIN our officers. Our military is different because of their training they work very professionally. Not the hungry ba ATM choncholichjo!
Bro Garry, take it easy, don’t go by the public. Yes, people like you but you have made mistakes for you to find yourself in this situation. Reflect and clearly understand where you belong. Your chances in are in 2031. You do have charisma, but need to change attitude towards attention seeking. Concentrate on work and not publicity. People will easily and soon forget you to start sing praises for someone else. Listen to your inner conscious and not your emotions.
The problem most politicians have, both from the ruling UPND and from all opposition political parties, including those who previously served as Members of Parliament, is greed and selfish desire for money. Very few people in Zambia enter politics to serve, address developmental issues, and uplift the lives of ordinary people. Instead, being an MP has become an easy gateway to a lucrative career and good living. Politics nowadays is not about service to the people, but employment with outstanding benefits and rewards.
Does it mean the only way Gary Nkombo can serve the Zambian people is by representing the people of Mazabuka as Member of Parliament? Genuine politicians and people with humble hearts can serve in any capacity of work. The notion of saying, “I have sacrificed a lot for this party,” should not be viewed as an individual effort alone, because it is a collective responsibility and effort of many people, including those at grassroots level. Some people who suffered and sacrificed for UPND are not even famous, yet they remain influential in their own capacity.
Gary Nkombo went against the party’s directive and is not above collective orders that were guided by the UPND National Management Committee. Even in well-established and advanced democracies, there are rules and structures that govern and guide democracy. If Gary Nkombo wanted to contest as an Independent Candidate, morally he should have resigned from the party. Any person, whether in UPND or any other political party, who decides to contest as an Independent Candidate should disassociate themselves from the political party they belong to. For me, Gary Nkombo has made a grave mistake which may cause his downfall.
