FREEDOM HAS TO BE WON, I’M STILL STANDING – NKOMBO
Veteran politician Garry Nkombo says freedom was not gotten for free as people died fighting for it.
Nkombo has called on Zambians to keep standing and fight for their freedom. He says he is still standing to ensure freedom Zambians won is not lost.
In his Africa Freedom Day message which falls on May 25, Nkombo reflects on his recently attack as he went to file nominations by known UPND Cadres led by a State House based official Belden Haloba.
Nkombo says the violent attacks on Citizens that have been witnessed are calculated:

Friends, the unfortunate attack on me and my wife last Wednesday 21st May 2026 at the hands of Bilden Halooba in full view of the Zambia Police Service was never just about stopping Gary Nkombo’s nomination as Mazabuka Central MP.
It’s bigger !
It was an attack on Zambia’s cherished democratic soul — a direct assault on the rights and freedoms our mothers and fathers bled and died to secure.
Our parents did not die for us to rebuild the same chains with different hands in 2026.
They did not march so that citizens could be harmed for simply wanting to participate.
What happened to me — and what continues to happen to others — are not isolated attacks.
They are system magically planned attacks on every Zambian’s right to exist without fear, to participate without intimidation.
Zambia’s democracy was not given on a silver plate.
It was won..
In 1964.
In 1991.
In 2021.
Each generation before us faced a moment where they had to choose between— true freedom or deception .
In 2026, the moment is here and is ours!
Africa Freedom Day is not a passive celebration for the powerful only. It is a warning to the complacent — as freedom is never just won.
It is protected daily, by ordinary citizens who refuse to look away from injustice in any form, anywhere .
I am still standing.
Zambia must keep standing too.

You are a let down ba Garry I didn’t expect you to say SUCH THINGS to president HH. What’s really going on in your head Aisha?
I am equally disappointed with Nkombo, he looks confused to me. Just because he was not adopted, then all the freedom UPND brought has suddenly vanished. Is he the one who was keeping it? I did not expect such words to come from him.
HH HAS EVEN RESPECTED YOU GARRY AND YOU MUST LEARN TO APPRECIATE.
YOU BETRAYED HIM IN SO MANY WAYS, HE GAVE YOU CHANCE TO SHOW RSMORSE. BUT YOU LIST IT.
I REMEMBER HH COMPLAINING ABOUT SOME UPND INDIVIDUALS LEARNING HOW TO STEAL FROM PF FELLOWS.
I ALSO RECALL HIM COMPLAINING ABOUT SOME CABINETS MINISTERS ATTENDING MEETINGS UNDER THE INFLUENCE.
THEN IT SURFACED, NOT FROM HH, WHO, I THINK, STILL HAD HOPES IN GARRY REFORMING, BUT FROM SOURCES THAT MIGHT HAVE WORKED ON THE DOWNFALL OF GARRY. THEY POISONED HIS MIND AND HE BECAME A MOLE AGAINST A MAN WHO HELD HIM IN HIGH ESTEEM. WITHOUT REALIZING IT, OR PERHARPS BEING PAMPARD WITH LARGER -THAN -SIZE HOPES OF BEING BETTER THAN HH, HE CHOSE TO SLOWLY REBEL AGAINST HH.
HH RESPECTED HIM AND NEVER GAVE THE NATION ANY REASON FOR RELIEVING HIM OF HIS DUTIES. THIS WAS BECAUSE HE THOUGHT GARRY COULD SHOW REMORSE AND GET BACK TO HIS SENSES. HE, INSTEAD, FELT HE WAS BIGGER THAN HH.
TO GARRY, MY BROTHER YOU HAVE JUST LOST A GOOD OPPORTUNITY TO BE PART OF THE WINNING TEAM.
YOU DID A LOT FOR UPND, BUT THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN TO YOUR HEAD.
NOW, THE SAME PEOPLE THAT STOLE YOUR LOYALTY TO HH WILL FINISH YOU LIKE THEY FINISHED BOWMAN BECAUSE THEY DON’T WANT ANY ONE SHOWING STEENGTH TO BE IN THE GAME, ESPECIALLY ONE FROM THE SO CALLED ZAMBEZI REGION.
DID YOU SEE HOW THEY ARE SUGGESTING YOU PLUNDERED? THEY ARE THROWING PICTURES OF YOU WITH YOUR LAVISH SPENDING TO ATTRACT THE DEC TO YOU.
YOU WERE BLINDED MY BROTHER. YOU DROPPED YOUR GUARD AND NOW YOU MAY JUST RETIRE INTO OBLIVION, REGRETABLY.
UPND COULD NOT TRUST YOU ANY MORE, THAT IS WHY YOU SAW THEM AVOIDING YOU.
LIKE THE PRODIGAL SON, YOU COULD STILL GO BACK AND APOLOGIZE BECAUSE YOU CAN’T WIN ON THE OTHER SIDE.
@ Kasongo I am equally disappointed over GARRY especially that time when he influenced Mweetwa so that both of them should join PF in early 2021, I think that was Around January or so. Garry should be careful of the seeds he SOWING ESPECIALLY where’s involving Chiefs like Mwanachingwala.
Mwanachingwala yesterday was using bad WORDS that people from Monze and other areas have come to Mazabuka to be adopted as Members of Parliament.
