Zambia mourns Mpezeni


PARAMOUNT Chief Mpezeni IV of the Ngoni people has died at the age of 75. His Royal Highness Nkosi Nzamane IV of the Ngoni people confirmed his demise during a press briefing on Saturday. Paramount Chief Mpezeni was born Njengembaso David Jele in the 1940s and ascended to the throne in June 1982, continuing a royal lineage left by his father, who died on June 11, 1981. The traditional leader had been on the throne for 44 years and is reported to have been 30 years old when he ascended to the throne.
