If you believe Mandela took money from your country to fight for our freedom, then go and collect your money from Mandela and his family– South African Activist Sparks Debate
“Go Collect Your Money From Mandela’s Family” – South African Activist Sparks Debate
South African activist Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma has ignited controversy after responding to claims that several African nations played a major role in supporting South Africa’s fight against apartheid.
For decades, many Africans have pointed to the political, financial, and diplomatic support provided by countries across the continent during the liberation struggle that eventually led to freedom under Nelson Mandela and other anti-apartheid leaders.
But Ngobese-Zuma argues that historical support should not be used as a reason to demand acceptance or special treatment in South Africa today.
In a statement that quickly drew attention online, she said:
“If you believe Mandela took money from your country to fight for our freedom, then go and collect your money from Mandela and his family.”
Her remarks come amid ongoing debates about immigration, African solidarity, and the treatment of foreign nationals in South Africa.
Do you think African countries that supported the anti-apartheid struggle deserve greater recognition today, or should history be separated from current immigration issues?
South Africa is in decline. In twenty years time, it will have consumed itself and its citizens will be leaving in droves to escape the poverty and violence. It is just a matter of time.
With this kind of thinking by the likes of this lady, there is no hope for South Africa. Their turn as economic refugees will certainly come.
However, the rest of Africa did a splendid job supporting South Africans gain majority rule. These people went through unimaginable suffering which I would not wish on them even with the foolish reasoning of this lady.
This is foolish arrogance.
I see the kind of entitled thinking cropping here. And its the kind that Gray Nkombo showed. Entitlement.
Those saying they are entitled to the wealth in South Africa. Go there the border not some fence. Go through the process of attaining residency or citizenship, that legally gives the right to “sit at the table”.
To South Africans you also behave in an entitled manner just like Zambians who run their mouths daily and dont do a lick of work. Yet they want to eat three meals a day and have a job they have not earned handed to them. A certificate is not an automatic right to a job. Skils and personality play a role to fit in the clog work of a work place.
Again I repeat a sense of entitlement. Cause I am South African therefore I deserve. The world doesnt work like that. The best and brightest earn the place. The hard working and determined get a seat. Skill and personality is like oil to wheels.
