IN the heart of Pambashe Constituency in Kawambwa District, where dusty footpaths weave through villages and children walk long distances in pursuit of education, Chinani Primary School is undergoing a remarkable transformation. For many years, more than 300 pupils at the rural school learned under difficult and often unsafe conditions. Their classrooms consisted of one dilapidated building and a mud structure that struggled to withstand harsh weather conditions. During the rainy season, lessons were frequently disrupted as leaking roofs forced learners to crowd into corners or return home altogether. When strong winds blew, both teachers and pupils feared the possibility of collapsing walls.
