Court stays ECZ directive to withdraw ‘Candle’ symbol


THE Lusaka High Court has ordered a stay on the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ)’s directive on five aspiring independent candidates to withdraw the ‘Candle’ symbol allocated to them. Meanwhile, the court has granted the five independent candidates leave to commence judicial review proceeding against the commission. This is in a matter where Gary Nkombo, Simon Mwila, Michael Chuulu, Faith Lungu, and Iris Kaingu Kamwi applied to the Lusaka High Court for leave to commence judicial review proceedings against the decision by ECZ to withdraw the ‘Candle’ symbol allocated to them.
