Lungu to be buried if Mundubile wins August polls, reveals Mundubile
NRPUP Presidential candidate Brian Mundubile has revealed that he and running mate Makebi Zulu, have agreed to only lay to rest, President Edgar Lungu if the pair wins August 13 polls.
Speaking during a rally in Chinsali of Muchinga Province this afternoon, Mundubile told the gathering that Lungu deserves to be laid to rest with dignity and respect.
“What you must know is that our father Edgar Lungu, has not yet been buried. What Makebi Zulu and I have agreed on is that when you vote for us and we win, we will honour late President Edgar Lungu and bury him with respect.
“Our father needs to be buried with respect,” Mundubile remarks.

We knew that was your game plan.
BUT GOD has embarrassed you that they are even PROTESTING IN SOUTH AFRICA over foreigners and LUNGU inclusive. You are in for a SHOCK. God has FOUGHT FOR HH, who knew that he could turn an embarrassment into a triumph.
Especially Makebi will cry like a baby after 13th August. Even to get a 10% NATIONAL VOTE you will be lucky…!
Sorry, burial of your father will never influence my vote. I will vote for serious issues.
Well, we are not voting for you Mr. Mundubile. You are free to bury your father, Mr. Lungu, in South Africa, that is, if the South Africans will allow you.
To be honest we don’t care where he is buried. After all, he didnot care about Zambia either.
So that has always been your plan?
This body of ECL is unfortunate, I guess if he could speak he would have said ” please let me rest you are abusing me now”. It has never happened any where in the world where to bury some one a carrot has to be dangled. These people have taken Zambians for granted.
I laugh when I hear them talking about one Zambia one national with that behavior.
What a bunch of loser’s you are imwe ba pompwe…
It is deeply troubling that Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu have chosen to make the burial of the late President Edgar Chagwa Lungu a central campaign issue by declaring that, if elected on 13 August 2026, one of their first actions would be to accord him a befitting burial. Such a statement is not only inappropriate but also reflects an attempt to politicise a solemn national matter.
From the very beginning, these are among the individuals who encouraged the Lungu family to resist the Government’s efforts to facilitate the burial of a former Head of State. Having contributed to the impasse, it is now disingenuous to present themselves as the solution. This raises legitimate questions about whether the unfortunate passing of President Lungu is being exploited to gain political sympathy and electoral advantage.
Zambians deserve leaders who campaign on ideas, policies, and practical solutions to the country’s economic and social challenges—not on matters that should unite the nation in mourning and respect. The legacy of a former President should never become a political campaign tool.
The UPND government has remained focused on implementing its development agenda by stabilising the economy, restoring confidence in public institutions, strengthening the rule of law, and investing in national development. These are the issues that should define the 2026 elections.
Ultimately, the Zambian people will have the final say through the ballot box. If Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu believe that politicising President Lungu’s burial will secure electoral victory, they may well find that voters are more interested in credible leadership, sound policies, and a clear vision for Zambia’s future than in political theatrics.
