MUNDUBILE’S THREATS SPARK ALARM AS ZAMBIANS FEAR RETURN TO CADRE-DRIVEN CHAOS
The political temperature in Zambia is rising rapidly ahead of the elections, and Tonse Alliance opposition leader Brian Mundubile’s campaign tone is beginning to deeply annoy and alarm Zambians. During a recent campaign rally in Kasama, Mundubile threatened civil servants with mass dismissal if he takes power.
This aggressive rhetoric faces a massive wall of resistance, as Zambians are all too familiar with this dangerous language. By openly proclaiming that he intends to rule like Edgar Lungu, Mundubile has confirmed our worst fears; his words are indistinguishable from the systemic intimidation we endured during the Patriotic Front (PF) era.
History shows that it takes only one politician to issue a threat before cadres take it as an assignment to harass citizens. We vividly remember typical past horrors, such as the infamous April 2021 incident where unruly PF cadres led by Charles Kakula stormed government offices, cornered a senior official, Madam Sherry, and aggressively hounded her out of her workspace. Mundubile is already reviving this volatile behavior, and cadres are listening.
There is widespread fear that these cadres are arming themselves, waiting for his 30-day ultimatum to elapse under his arrogant presumption that he will win the elections. If his faction takes over the government, these cadres will likely move unrestrained, removing officers at Police Headquarters and across all police stations, causing absolute mayhem in the civil service. Who could stop them when their own leader gave the instruction?
Reasonable Zambians are now beginning to respond to thwart any possibility of this faction returning to power.
The more people listen to Mundubile, the more they realize he is a genuine danger to the country. This all-familiar, hostile PF mentality is something he is exhibiting everywhere on the campaign trail, exposing a caliber of leadership that clarifies why former President Edgar Lungu—despite his own heavily criticized administration—refused to ever elevate Mundubile to a full cabinet minister position. Lungu clearly saw through Mundubile’s severe inadequacies early on, choosing to keep him marginalized.
His ongoing campaign blunders—from unrealistic policies on excavators and maize dryers to insensitive burial comments in Chinsali—have completely shattered the illusion that he is a measured politician.
These erratic missteps have alienated the electorate, triggered immense friction within the Tonse Alliance, and exposed a candidate completely detached from reality. Ultimately, his glaring inadequacies stand fully exposed by President Hakainde Hichilema’s outstanding competence and stellar governance standards, reinforcing why reasonable Zambians are standing firm to ensure the State House remains permanently out of reach for such dangerous political gymnastics.
Any person with common sense can tell that Mundubile and Makebi are wrong chaps
