Comedian Ben Musiyani, popularly known as Bakateka, says he began imitating late Sixth Republican President Edgar Lungu after many people told him he closely resembled the former Head of State.
Speaking during an interview on the Zed Urban Show with Afroman on Sun FM TV, Musiyani said the public’s observations inspired him to develop the character, which he has been performing since 2017.
Musiyani revealed that he had an opportunity to meet Mr. Lungu in 2021 after the former President left office.
He said both Mr. Lungu and former First Lady Esther Lungu were impressed by his impersonations when he was invited to meet them at their residence.
According to Musiyani, Mr. Lungu appreciated the character and encouraged him to continue imitating him, saying the performances would help keep his legacy alive and remind Zambians of his contributions to the country.
