MAPALO DEFENDS MUNDUBILE’S CAMPAIGN, POSTERS, T SHIRTS ARE NOT VOTERS
MAPALO Masoko a member of Brian Mundubile’s campaign team, has defended the opposition leader’s campaign strategy following claims by UPND Lusaka Province Information and Publicity Secretary Matomola Likwanya that Mundubile has little chance of winning the upcoming elections because of the absence of campaign materials such as posters, banners, billboards and T-shirts.
Responding to the remarks, Masoko said it was unfortunate that some people believe elections are won solely through campaign materials.
He argued that history has shown elections are won through the people’s trust, a clear vision, strong leadership and the ability to connect with voters rather than the volume of posters or billboards displayed.
Masoko added that if Mundubile has adopted a different campaign strategy, it should not be interpreted as a sign of weakness, noting that every political party has the right to campaign in its own way.
He further said voters are capable of assessing leaders based on their policies, integrity and plans for Zambia, rather than the number of campaign materials they produce.
Masoko called on political players to focus on debating ideas and solutions instead of mocking opponents’ campaign strategies, saying democracy is about giving citizens a genuine choice that should be respected.
