ZANACO Makes Statement with Three Kabwe Warriors Signings

Bankers act fast as trio arrive to bolster squad for new season
ZANACO FC are certainly making their intentions clear early on in the transfer window after securing the services of three players from Kabwe Warriors in one of this window’s biggest moves.
Francis Banda, Simon Tonga and Clement Mundia have all signed two-year deals with the Lusaka-based club as the Bankers bolster their squad for the upcoming campaign.
Signing three players from the same club tells you that ZANACO scouts really liked what they saw at Kabwe Warriors this past season. Clearly their homework unearthed some talents that were ready and capable of playing a role in the Bankers’ push next season.
It goes without saying that every transfer window there are always one or two moves that catch the eye of sports insiders, die-hard fans and the top betting sites in Zambia. This definitely falls into that category. ZANACO have decided to go down the route of signing players who have already played together, rather than making sporadic signings. Being able to play with players you are already familiar with can only benefit each player and the squad as a whole when it comes to gelling ahead of the new campaign.
Expect the three new boys to hit the ground running, considering they all possess MTN Super League experience and have that hunger to make a name for themselves at a ZANACO side looking to return to the top table.
Francis Banda has been touted as someone who will bring calmness and stability at the back. If ZANACO are looking to tighten up at the back, then Banda could prove vital if given the nod to start week in, week out. Versatile Simon Tonga arrives with high praise regarding his work ethic and has previously shown he can play virtually anywhere across the midfield or backline. Tonga’s skillset will provide the technical team with more options when calling upon his services this season.
Creative midfielder Clement Mundia looks set to provide ZANACO with some much-needed energy and flair in midfield. Mundia should slot into countless positions in midfield, and his vision should help ZANACO dominate games going forward.
Making the step up to a big club is never easy, but if there is one thing Banda, Tonga and Mundia have in common, it’s that they are all hungry for success. The trio was part of a Kabwe Warriors side that impressed many last season, and now they look to improve at arguably Zambia’s most successful football club in recent years.
ZANACO won’t just be looking to improve on their showing last season but will want to consistently challenge for honors domestically. As such, every new signing the club gets should fit into a greater plan.
A good recruitment strategy is key to any successful season, and you get the sense that ZANACO are leaving no stone unturned in bringing in players who can help their cause next season.
Signing players early also gives the technical team behind the scenes more time to work with them before the season starts. With that said, it’s clear ZANACO are ready and willing to push forward this summer by strengthening what was already a solid squad.
