CHINA ISSUES STRONG WARNING TO TRUMP OVER ELECTION INTERFERENCE CLAIMS
China has issued a strong warning to U.S. President Donald Trump after he accused Chinese President Xi Jinping of interfering in the 2020 U.S. presidential election in an attempt to harm the United States.
Trump claimed that Beijing had attempted to influence the outcome of the election, renewing long-standing tensions between Washington and Beijing over issues including security, trade, and political influence.
Responding to the accusations, President Xi Jinping strongly rejected the claims and warned Washington against using China as a political tool.
“Stop spreading lies. We have never interfered in your elections,” Xi said. “Stop using China for your own political interests.”
The Chinese leader warned that if such accusations continue to be repeated, relations between the world’s two largest economies could face a major crisis.
“If this matter is raised again, the relationship between China and the United States will be completely brought to an end,” Xi reportedly warned.
China also indicated that it could cancel a planned U.S. visit scheduled for September, saying that continued political attacks against Beijing would make cooperation between the two countries impossible.
The latest dispute comes amid already strained U.S.-China relations, with both sides facing disagreements over Taiwan, trade restrictions, technology competition, and global influence.
Analysts say the escalation could further damage diplomatic efforts aimed at stabilizing relations between Washington and Beijing, raising concerns about a new phase of confrontation between the two powers.
