I’ll deliver unmatched service in Maramba, vows UPND aspiring candidate Yvonne Kabba
BORN 46 years ago, Maramba Constituency UPND member of parliament contender Yvonne Kabba says she will offer unmatched public service and community development.
In an interview, Kabba said she did her Primary and Secondary School education at Libuyu, Zambezi, and Linda schools in Livingstone, as well as Serenje’s Ibolelo Secondary School.
Kabba expressed her passion for public service, stressing that she would bring about development and economic growth in her constituency, should she be elected.
“I bring to Maramba Constituency proven expertise in grassroots mobilisation, advocacy, and service delivery. I am married, and have a strong passion for public service, community development, and inclusive economic growth,” she said.
She adds that her leadership complimented that of President Hakainde Hichilema, as it is anchored on strategic leadership in business and enterprise development.
Kabba, a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Community Development, also holds an Aquaculture Certificate from the Natural Resources Development College, and is currently pursuing a Diploma in Social Work at Mansfield College, and a Diploma in Business Administration at the University of Zambia (UNZA).
“I am a community leader, business executive, and social development advocate who has helped and continues to help several vulnerable women and youths through the Yvonne Kabba Foundation (YK Foundation). I have a deep passion for improving livelihoods, and empowering women and the youth, creating sustainable employment, and contributing to policies that advance equity, opportunity, and long-term national development. With this background in social work and business administration, I bring proven expertise in grassroots mobilisation, advocacy, civic education, conflict resolution, team leadership, and service delivery, to our newly created Maramba Constituency,” she said.
Kabba describes her core competencies as public leadership and governance, adding that this is also embedded in her ability to effectively mobilise community engagement.
She adds that the YK Foundation, founded in 2024 was established as a non-profit organisation focused on uplifting vulnerable and underserved communities, championing initiatives to address drug and alcohol abuse among youths, as well as to drive women empowerment programs that promote self-reliance and economic development.
Kabba further adds that she partners with other stakeholders to deliver impactful interventions in healthcare, education, and social welfare.
“I am the Executive Director of a Group of Companies under Wapyn Investment Limited which provides strategic leadership across a diversified portfolio of business ventures. I also have overseen investments in transport and logistics, hospitality, retail, chain liquor stores, real estate, farming, and mining. My passion is to drive business expansion that contributes to job creation and local economic growth,” she added.
She is also a frequent visitor of the Maramba Old People’s Home, where she celebrated her birthday recently.
Kabba pledged to help contribute to school infrastructure development, and quality education provision.
“I will work to improve infrastructure in Maramba including roads, markets, and sanitation, while strengthening social services to uplift the most vulnerable. Through transparent, accountable, and people-centered leadership, I will ensure that development reaches every corner of Maramba. Together, we will transform Maramba into a model constituency defined by opportunity, dignity, and shared prosperity for all,” said Kabba.
She has further pledged to help President Hichilema gunner over 5,000 votes.
Meanwhile, Livingstone Central UPND Parliamentary candidate Gracious ‘Dillon’ Mayangwa has promised to lead what he called a tag-team campaign with Kabba.
“We have people who stay in Maramba, but registered as voters in Livingstone Central Constituency, and vice-versa. So, we will have a tag-team type of campaign so that we leave no one behind,” said Mayangwa.
