FORMER NGAMBELA OF BAROTSELAND BREAKS SILENCE, ENDORSES Brian Mundubile, CITES UPND’S “BROKEN PROMISES”

By Zambia Barotseland Border post
Reporter,

Former Ngambela of Barotseland and ex-Senanga Member of Parliament, Clement Wainyae Sinyinda, has formally endorsed Brian Mundubile for President and Makebi Zulu for Vice President ahead of the August 13 General Election, in a major political development that could reshape the political landscape in Barotseland.

Speaking during a press briefing held today at his residence, Sinyinda announced his decision to back the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP), declaring that his endorsement followed “deep reflection, honest introspection, and painful acceptance” that the promises made to Barotseland under the United Party for National Development government had not been fulfilled.

Sinyinda, who played a central role in mobilizing support for President Hakainde Hichilema and UPND candidates in the 2021 elections, said he had invested his political capital in the belief that Barotseland would finally experience development, justice, and improved living standards.

He recalled how he was specifically assigned to campaign in Nalikwanda Constituency at a critical time, helping deliver victory for the ruling party across much of Barotseland. However, he said the optimism that drove that campaign has now turned into disappointment.

The former Ngambela accused the UPND government of failing to complete key infrastructure projects inherited from the previous administration, including the King Lewanika University project, Mongu Stadium, and the Kalabo-Sikongo Road. According to him, the failure to finish these projects has left many in Barotseland feeling neglected and sidelined.

On the economic front, Sinyinda said the rising cost of living, worsening poverty levels, and the continued struggle of ordinary families to afford basic necessities had exposed what he described as the failure of the government’s
First of all, thanks for coming out.
However, the reasons behind cant hold.
What did the previous govt do to develop
your barptseland? Why did they leave the
cited projects incomplete? When Lungu
stopped all projects after defaulting, which part
of the country got theirs, major projects i mean,
done? And why did you want or dream your
barotseland would or should have been treated differently?
Hasnt you heard that the govt had to rebuild, rescue the economy
first before it could have resources to embark on capital projects?
If you went to school, at your age, People will be embarrassed to
know that you are lost in your thinking and non inspiring.
If I were the Govt in power, I would have wished you well and
waved goodbye. You are a bitter old man seeking to
pampered by govt. Just line up your grandchildren to join the
police and get jobs if at all they have the necessary prerequisites to
be accepted. You are protesting from the point of
self bitterness and probably for being ignored by someone.
You are free. The people arent fed from anyone person’s
plate. Keep your vote and give it to those you have chosen. My family will act as we wish..
I hope you were not fired as Ngambela. Hard to find reason for your reasoning.
We are tired of those who voice out whenever their personal
issues arent addressed. No thanks and bye.
Yes, clearly, the gentleman is expressing personal bitterness. He is at liberty to exercise his rights to vote without showing us his bitterness.
I am surprised the a former Ngambela does not understand Western Province. No development can take place in Western Province without the permission of the Litunga and the BRE. Just to build the HH hospital had to take a village headmen to give the go ahead. Zambians need to be educated about the Barotseland Agreement 1964 which certain people are lying about, saying that KK abrogated it. KK change the name of Barotse Province to Western Province, but he did not abrogate the Agreement. The BA 1964, guaranteed Barotseland internal autonomy and recognized the Litunga as the principal local authority with powers over land, natural resources, and customary law. Much of this is the case to date. The Constitutional (Amendment) Act No. 35 in October 1969, did not take away the powers of the Litunga, but only further integrated Barotseland into the UNITARY State of Zambia, in accordance with the wishes of both peoples of Zambia. The Lozi Nationalist party got no seat in the Legislative Assembly in 1963, notwithstanding the strong handed anti-UNIP and anti-Independence campaign it carried out in Barotseland.
The majority of the Lozi people wanted to be part of Zambia and they have played significant roles in the governance of Zambia and its development since 1964.
Xenophobia against fellow black people as is happening in South Africa right now, tends to be perpetuated by a few disgruntled individuals when they fail to integrate with the majority. If Adamson Mushala had his way, North Western Province would have been an enclave of Apartheid South Africa today. Zambia is a UNITARY State and it always shall be. No one abrogated any Agreement.
I wish Mr. Sinyinda luck. I am sure Mr. Mundubike is in pole position to deliver full development to Western Province, especially if Tonse’s Finance chairman, Mr. Kafwaya, becomes Finance Minister.
This man left his good and high paying job as Deputy Chair, Teaching Service Commission just to go and start championing tribalism in Western Province. But to his surprise and shame he failed to get the following and support that he wanted. He is now even more isolated than before. I urge the government to keep on monitoring him and if he continues to be Fanny, let the long arm of the law visit him. Our leaders are doing their best to unite this country but him is there frustrating government efforts, aikona mani. If it were in the past, I would understand but not now where each Constituency is given an equal share of CDF, it’s now up to the people to set their own priorities. Crying and complaining about the past will not help anyone. We need to move on and embrace unity, Zambia is a unitary.
