2026 FIFA World Cup: The Match Was Rigged for Argentina -Egypt Coach Hossam Hassan
Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has alleged that his side’s 2026 FIFA World Cup round-of-16 defeat to Argentina was manipulated in favour of the South American champions.
According to a report by Daily Post Nigeria on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the Pharaohs suffered a dramatic 3-2 loss after surrendering a two-goal advantage.
Speaking after the match, Hassan expressed strong dissatisfaction with several officiating decisions, insisting they influenced the outcome of the encounter.
“I will say what’s on my mind regardless of the consequence,” Hassan said.
“This was clearly a rigged match, and the whole world saw it.”
“And I want to say one more thing: if they want [Argentina] to win so badly, why call everyone to come and participate?”
Hassan’s comments came shortly after the final whistle as frustration mounted over the controversial decisions that overshadowed Egypt’s defeat.
