Is anyone buying fuel at K12, as promised by Hichilema? Kambwili asks Mwansabombwe voters
FORMER Patriotic Front Minister of Information Chishimba Kambwili has questioned whether any Zambian is buying fuel at K12 per litre, saying President Hakainde Hichilema has failed to fulfil several campaign promises made ahead of the 2021 General Election.
And Kambwili says President Hichilema did not deliver on his promises to reduce fuel prices and electricity tariffs, or to have ministers drive Toyota Corollas instead of luxury government vehicles.
Addressing a campaign rally in Mwansabombwe of Luapula Province alongside NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile and running mate Makebi Zulu, Kambwili urged opposition political parties to unite behind the duo ahead of next month’s elections.
“All opposition political parties should come together and support Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu. After they win, those who want can return to their political parties, while those who wish can continue serving under the new government,” he said.
Kambwili accused President Hichilema of failing to honour key pledges he made while campaigning for office.
“He said he would reduce mealie meal prices to K50 and fertiliser to K250. He found fuel at K17 per litre and promised that once elected, fuel would cost K12. Is anyone here buying fuel at K12? When fuel prices go up, the prices of all commodities also increase,” he said.
Kambwili further claimed that the President had failed to reduce electricity tariffs as promised.
“In 2021, the electricity units you bought could last a month. Today, they barely last three days. He also promised to build universities in all provinces. Has he built any?” he asked.
He also questioned the President’s earlier pledge to dispose of expensive ministerial vehicles and replace them with Toyota Corollas.
“He said he would sell the big ministerial vehicles and that his ministers would be driving Corollas. Have they been sold? Are ministers driving Corollas?” Kambwili asked.
He further claimed that the promised employment opportunities for young people had not materialised, saying many youths remain unemployed and on the streets.

And your brothers’ bodies are still fresh in the graves???? You literally begged the president to release you from prison on health grounds???? You pretended to be so sick you were dying????
There’s so much to this guy…only God knows.
Who said ‘if you can’t afford petrol, urinate in the petrol tank’ ?
Did Zambia buy fuel at 5kw a litre and send one million goats a month to Saudi Arabia the previous regime promised after ECL visited that country
You can not produce a baby in wanu month by getting 9 women pregnant.
9 months is nature’s way of doing things. No matter how ambitious you are.
Reducing the price of essential commodities is a process. First settle or renegotiate all outstanding kaloba that is eating up 110% of yowa revenue.
Secondly, cut out the local middle men in the supply chain.
Thirdly create alliances with regional suppliers (like Angola or Dangote in Nigeria) so that dependency or working with Dubai based suppliers ends. A pipeline with Angola is in the works, that kind of project takes years. And years.
If you want magik, go to Mozambique. There are some very pawafu witches and wizards there.
Besides arguement above, i just think, its wrong audience for such campaign, maybe his CK arquement in urbarn areas, i doubt what he said would have an impact in areas like Mwansabombwe.
So, this is noice to their ears.
If you want to know how wise or foolish the king is, let him talk. CK talks as if he doesn’t live in Zambia. The time UPND formed government in 2021, the world was just recovering from Covid pandemic and he knows how devastating it was to our countries. Shortly after, we had the severest drought in living memory and the UPND government handled it very well, no single Zambian died of hunger. As if it was not enough, the PF government left the treasury empty, they had borrowed recklessly leaving a huge unsustainable debt behind. For the first time, Zambia defaulted on debt servicing. It took UPND more than a year to restructure that unsustainable debt, brought down the inflation, stabilized the Kwacha and foreign reserves went up and are still going up. It’s like all those things are meaningless to CK, that’s why Zambians can not even make that mistake to bring back these people into forming a government. If it were not UPND who has brought back this country to its former glory, this there could have been no Zambia to talk about, there was completely no vision or road map for the country. Everyone was preoccupied with plundering.
Chanda once said you have an infection disease. Maybe it has got to your head. Let’s wait and see after 13th.
If anything fuel is still cheaper in Zambia than in many developed nations because it sells at less than a dollar. Let him tell the people what the cost of fuel in USA is currently! It’s more than US $3.00 a litre and yet the USA is one of world’s highest producers of fuel in the world. If anything a Dollar per litre is less than the cost of production of fuel.
