On our team, you had to sing to introduce yourself. He [Beckham] kept telling me, ‘Zlatan, I’m not doing that. Forget about it,’ I said. ‘No, you have to.’
Three days passed, then I told him, ‘David, you have to sing now. Finally, he said, ‘Okay’, He stood up and whispered to me, ‘Help me.’ I said, ‘Okay.’ Then he started singing the English national anthem.
I looked at him and said, ‘My friend. I can’t sing the English national anthem.’ Everybody was staring at him, and his face turned bright red. He was so uncomfortable, but that’s our way of welcoming new players to the team.
I can tell you one thing: he’s not a good singer.”
