TSHISEKEDI FACES ICC: Katanga Lawyers File Criminal Charges Against DRC President For Among Other Charges Massacres In Kilobelobe & Abduction Of Pastor Mulunda From Zambia

Lawyers from the Katanga Civil Society have filed a complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC) against imposter President Félix Tshisekedi for “crimes against humanity”

The lawyers filed the suit on Friday accusing Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi of “massacres” and “massive human rights violations” in the Katanga region.

In this video released from the ICC headquarters in The Hague, the lawyers have submitted to the prosecutors of the Court the “serious facts” they had observed in several localities in Katanga.

“We have indeed found that we must communicate the serious facts we have observed, including massacres in Lwilu, Lubuka, Malemba Nkulu, Kilobelobe and in several other areas of the Katanga region,” said one of the lawyers.

According to them, the head of state and “all those who are at his service have put in place a policy of terror” meaning “serious violations of human rights and murder” against all forms of opposition.

The lawyers also denounced “kidnappings”, “prolonged and illegal detentions without access to a lawyer, without access to family members”, “tortures, even disappearances”.

They cite the case of “Pastor Murunda, kidnapped abroad in Zambia while he had a refugee status,” and to this day are “without news” of his whereabouts.

They also claim to have launched a “public notice” to the ICC, warning against “repeating the same acts and the risks of their aggravation in the days to come”.

Looting, militias and hate speech

The complaint links these violent acts to “control of state power” and “the plundering of mineral resources”.

The plaintiffs accuse the government of “establishing militias”, including “militias of his party”, with “recruitment in ethnic backgrounds, close to President Tshisekedi”.

They also denounce “the proliferation of hate speech” aimed at those “opposing this regime or having a contrary opinion which is considered to be an alliance x the enemies of the regime”.

“This is what led to the massacres that we have just denounced but which could pave the way for other similar situations,” they added.

No reaction was available immediately from the Congolese presidency or the office of the prosecutor of the ICC.- DRC Today
