BREAKING: Mojtaba Khamenei Thanks Iranians and Iraqis for Massive Turnout at Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s Funeral
Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei has expressed gratitude to the people of Iran and Iraq for what he described as their “massive participation” in the funeral ceremonies of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who died on February 28 following a strike on his office in Tehran that Iranian authorities have attributed to the United States and Israel.
The message was delivered on Tuesday by his eldest son, Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Mostafa Khamenei, during a memorial ceremony in Tehran attended by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, senior officials, and foreign diplomats.
In the statement, Mojtaba Khamenei described the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as “a great tragedy” for the nation, calling on supporters to demonstrate patience and steadfastness during the period of mourning.
However, he also declared that such patience “is in no way incompatible with revenge” against those Iran holds responsible for the attack, signaling that Tehran continues to maintain a hardline stance following the assassination.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was laid to rest five days earlier at the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad after five days of funeral ceremonies held across Tehran, Qom, and several cities in Iraq, drawing large crowds of mourners and senior officials.
The latest remarks underscore the continued political and symbolic significance of Khamenei’s death, with Iranian leaders vowing resilience while maintaining accusations that the United States and Israel were behind the strike—claims neither Washington nor Jerusalem has publicly accepted.
