Change is coming, change is a must, declares Mundubile

BUSINESS in Kafue District yesterday came to a temporal halt, when dwellers of that part of Lusaka Province saw a spectacle wearing duo, Brian Mundubile, and Makebi Zulu gesture their lamp symbol, as an all white convoy rolled across the district.

Meanwhile, Mundubile and Makebi’s guards yesterday had a tough time controlling over—pouring crowds of people that struggled to put themselves together when the NRPUP duo waved and blew flying kisses from their vehicles while the convoy made its way to the campaign arena. .

Some men who sat in barbershops abandoned their haircuts midway through to witness the procession, while attendants at fuel service stations hurried to the roadside, phones in hand, determined to capture photographs of the smiling presidential duo as they passed by.

Those fortunate enough to shake hands with Mundubile and Makebi walked away with expressions of amazement, cherishing what many considered a memorable encounter.

Some supporters of the ruling UPND, too, clad in their party regalia, could not hold back their joy at seeing Brian and Makebi. They like others, flashed the lamp symbol.

The tempo of excitement was taken to an insanely high note when Makebi and Brian took to the stage and addressed supporters who despite the scorching afternoon heat, remained firmly in place, erupting into loud cheers as the candidates acknowledged the sea of people before joining supporters in a brief dance to their campaign songs.

Addressing the energized crowd, Mundubile posed a question that was met with a thunderous response.

“Are you ready for change?” he asked.

The crowd answered with a resounding “Yes!”, prompting him to declare: “Change is coming. Change is a must.”

Mundubile pledged that, if elected, Kafue would no longer be known merely as a retirement town. He promised that his administration would inject resources into the Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia—NCZ, saying reviving the company would stimulate economic activity and create employment opportunities for the district’s young people.

Change has already come to Zambia, ba Mundubile. Are you the only one who can’t see it? Unless you are just pretending, as is the habit of most opposition misleaders. Free education, improved exchange rate, highest foreign reserves (which you have already set your eyes on, to come and eat!), debt (much of which went into PF thieves’ pockets) restructured, lowered inflation, no cadre thuggery on streets, at markets and bus stations. The only change you can promise Zambians is a return to PF mediocrity – you yourself have promised to rule like Lungu, and you have already given indications to that effect by promising to come and squander the reserves and threatening civil servants with job losses once you form government.
