ECZ UPDATE ON THE PRINTING OF BALLOT PAPERS AS AT 17TH JULY, 2026
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) wishes to update the nation that the printing and packaging of ballot papers for the upcoming 13th August, General Election is progressing well.
ECZ Commissioner, McDonald Chipenzi, who is in Dubai announced that all 9.1 million Presidential ballot papers have been successfully printed.
The Commissioner also indicated that 3,018,750 ballot papers for 96 constituencies for the National Assembly elections have been printed so far.
Additionally, 5,258,800 ballot papers destined for 77 districts for Mayoral and Council Chairperson elections have been printed so far while, 6,574,750 ballot papers for 1,340 wards have also been printed
In this regard, a combined total of 23,970,600 which translates to 68% of the ballots have been printed with 32% remaining.
The shipping of the ballot papers from Dubai to Zambia is expected to start on the 26th of July, 2026.
Commissioner Chipenzi explained that while some administrative processes to ensure accuracy of the ballots may have caused a slight delay of the process, the Commission is working closely with all staff and stakeholders to ensure that all ballot papers are delivered in time for the 13th August polls.
The Commissioner commended the team of stakeholders monitoring the process for their dedication. The team include representatives from political parties, civil society, the church, security agencies, and the media-who have shown immense resilience in monitoring the printing process.
Commissioner Chipenzi assured the stakeholders and the nation that the production process adheres to strict international quality standards.
The Commissioner explained that the Commission will continue to give updates until the printing process concludes up to the final delivery of the ballots in Lusaka.
