“We Will Always Be the Generation That Didn’t Win the World Cup” – Emotional Casemiro Reacts to Brazil’s Exit
Brazil midfielder Casemiro fought back tears after his country’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign came to a disappointing end following a 2-1 defeat to Norway in the Round of 16 on Sunday.
According to a report by Daily Post Nigeria, the experienced midfielder expressed his heartbreak after the loss, admitting that Brazil had fallen short of the expectations of millions of supporters.
He said the squad would forever be remembered as the generation that failed to deliver World Cup glory.
“We did our best, but we lost our dream,” Casemiro said in an emotional post-match interview, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano via CazéTV.
“It’s difficult. I only want to be with my family. We disappointed all Brazilians.”
Reflecting on the team’s painful exit, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder added: “We will always be the generation that didn’t win the World Cup.”
Carlo Ancelotti’s side bowed out after Norway striker Erling Haaland scored twice to secure a famous victory.
Neymar found the net for Brazil, but his goal proved insufficient to prevent the five-time world champions from crashing out of the tournament.
