KANEMA FAULTS ‘DATABASE EMPLOYMENT’, VOWS TO PRIORITIZE ROADS AND PIPED WATER FOR SOLWEZI CENTRAL
SOLWEZI – UPND Solwezi Central Constituency aspiring parliamentary candidate Bruce Kanema has criticized the current use of database systems for recruitment in both public and private sectors, saying the process does not benefit local youths as such and as expected.
Speaking on Radio Kyabagabanga, Kanema, who is also UPND Provincial Youth Chairman, called for a constituency-based quota system to replace databases.
“Instead of databases, there should be a number given to every constituency so that we ourselves can be able to get our youths and employ them, whether in public service or in our mines,”Kanema said.
Kanema stressed that road infrastructure will be his top priority if elected. He pledged that no road in Solwezi Central would be left behind, citing areas such as Kimakolwe and Kapijimpanga among others.
“The whole Solwezi Central is in town and deserves a better road network,”he said.
He further vowed to fast-track works on the Mutanda Bridge, which connects Solwezi and Mushindamo Districts.
On water supply, Kanema dismissed boreholes as a solution for the provincial capital.
“Boreholes are not in my plans because Solwezi is a provincial capital which needs piped water from our water utility company in all households regardless of location,”he stated. *“Water challenges in Solwezi will be a thing of the past. I am coming to ensure every household in Solwezi Central has water 24/7.”
Kanema appealed to residents to support his parliamentary bid and President Hakainde Hichilema, describing the President as “the key to development in the country.”
