BREAKING: Putin Tells Trump Russia Will ‘Take Donbas Without Fail’ in 90-Minute Call
Russian President Vladimir Putin told U.S. President Donald Trump during a 90-minute phone call that Russia will “take Donbas without fail,” according to the Kremlin.
Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov said Putin briefed Trump on the battlefield situation and reaffirmed Moscow’s objective of gaining full control over the Donetsk Oblast and Luhansk Oblast regions.
According to the Kremlin, Putin insisted that Ukraine should abandon its remaining defensive positions in Donbas, arguing that continued resistance would only prolong the conflict. Moscow also claimed its forces are steadily advancing, citing recent gains around Kostiantynivka as evidence that Russia’s territorial advances are irreversible.
Putin further accused Ukraine and the European Union of maintaining what he described as a false assessment of Russia’s military capabilities, asserting that Russian forces continue to hold the initiative on the front line.
The Kremlin’s account reflects Russia’s official position. Ukraine has consistently rejected Moscow’s territorial demands and has vowed to continue defending its internationally recognized territory.
