THE WOMAN WHO WAS BEING BE.ATEN IN THE VIRAL VIDEO HAD GONE TO COLLECT RENT MONEY FROM THE POLICE OFFICER’S HUSBAND BEFORE THEY WERE CAUGHT IN THE BEDROOM.

Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Kenneth Kang’ombe has confirmed that the police officer seen in a viral video allegedly assaulting and forcing a woman to undress is Inspector Diana Mukelebai, a Protective Unit officer based at Nakonde Police Station.

Mr. Kang’ombe has confirmed to Chete FM News that Inspector Mukelebai, 40, has been arrested together with Judith Nangoi, 42, Lister Nachamba, 38, and Mervis Nakamba, 26, all of Mulenda Village in Chief Waitwika’s area, in connection with a case of assault occasioning bodily harm.

He says the incident occurred on 13 July 2026 between 11:00 and 12:00 hours at Julayi Village in Chief Waitwika’s area and was reported to Nakonde Police Station on 15 July 2026 by Martha Mutambo, 23, of Ntindi Village.

The provincial police churf says the victim sustained bruises on both thighs, bruises on the back and general body pains after allegedly being beaten with a wooden stick and slapped by the four suspects.

Investigations have established that the matter began in October 2024, when Kennedy Simumba, the husband of Inspector Mukelebai, allegedly proposed love to the victim.

According to the report, before accepting the relationship, the victim asked Mr. Simumba whether he was married.

He admitted that he was married but allegedly told her that he was experiencing marital problems because his wife was unable to conceive.

The victim also informed Mr. Simumba that she was a single mother with a six-year-old daughter, after which the two agreed to enter into a relationship.

The couple reportedly agreed that they would have children together and that Mr. Simumba would provide child support.

The Police Commissioner says Mr. Simumba later started paying the victim’s GCE school fees and rented accommodation for her at Mukoma Village before asking her to relocate to Ntindi
