HH promises to turn Kawambwa into industrial hub
PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says the people of Kawambwa should brace themselves for more jobs and business opportunities as he has pledged to turn the constituency into an industrial hub of Luapula Province.
Addressing thousands of supporters in Kawambwa yesterday, President Hichilema said Government will invest more money in the constituency, translating into more jobs and business opportunities for local people.
He said Government has already laid the foundation for economic growth in Kawambwa by extending electricity, supporting sugar farmers and promoting avocado production, thereby turning promises into action.
“We will bring more investment to Kawambwa, translating into more jobs and business opportunities for local people. Your vote is what will allow us to deliver development. Go and vote for the UPND on August 13 to allow us to develop Kawambwa,” he said.
President Hichilema said Government will also complete the district hospital and Pambashe Boarding School, which will soon be handed over, as well as the Kawambwa-Mporokoso road.
He also said the delimitation of Kawambwa, which resulted in the creation of three constituencies, means the area will now receive K120 million under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), translating into more schools, hospitals, health centres, loans and grants for women, and improved water supply to homes and health facilities.
President Hichilema urged the people of Kawambwa to be wary of some opposition leaders whom he accused of misleading Zambians.
He said they borrowed excessively when they were in power, creating a debt burden that the New Dawn administration has worked hard to reduce.
“Those boys are liars. They lied against me in 2021. They were saying that I would divide the nation once I became President. They said I would sideline some provinces, but is that what I have done? I have brought more roads, CDF and hospitals. Is there any division in this? Those people are liars,” he said.
President Hichilema asked the people of Kawambwa to vindicate him by voting for him and the UPND, saying his administration has taken development to all parts of the country.
Meanwhile, in Chiengi, President Hichilema directed that volunteer health workers who attended his rally in uniform be employed.
The President appealed to the health workers to remain and serve in the districts where they will be deployed.
“Teachers and nurses we are employing have to work in Chienge; do not run away from here. There is no running away from Chiengi. You need to work for the people of Chiengi,” he said.
The Head of State also urged the people of Chienge to vote for the UPND on August 13 to facilitate the speedy completion of the Chienge-Nchelenge road.
President Hichilema said he is aware that the contractor working on the road has been slow, resulting in delays in completing the project. However, he promised to ensure that the work is completed.
“I know the contractor is slow, but I will not allow this to continue. This road needs to be completed. We want to construct bridges along that road. If you do not do this, you are delaying that project. We do not want to play around,” he said.
President Hichilema criticised some presidential candidates who are promising to construct the Chienge-Nchelenge road despite failing to do so when they were in power.
He wondered why they wanted another chance when they had previously served as ministers and had the opportunity to develop Luapula Province, which they claimed was their political stronghold.
“Those boys are liars. Do not be cheated. They will not work on this road. They will plunder the resources because that is what they like doing,” he said.
President Hichilema said votes from the people of Chiengi would help Government build skills training centres, banking facilities, Food Reserve Agency depots and more health centres in the district.
He said voting on August 13 would ensure the construction of the Mwabu, Chansa and Akafumbulu bridges and allow the development witnessed over the past four years and 10 months to continue.
President Hichilema encouraged the people of Chienge to choose development and peace over the suffering and chaos they experienced in the past.
