Conflicting Reports Emerge Over Jordan’s King Abdullah II’s Absence
Conflicting reports have surfaced regarding the whereabouts of King Abdullah II of Jordan, with social media claims alleging that the monarch has fled the country amid heightened regional tensions and reported Iranian attacks involving Jordan.
According to unverified reports circulating online, the King left Jordan due to security concerns after Iran accused Amman of supporting U.S. military operations against Tehran. These claims have fueled widespread speculation but have not been supported by official evidence.
However, other reports from sources closer to the Jordanian government indicate that King Abdullah II is on an official visit to London, where he is expected to participate in meetings focused on economic cooperation and bilateral relations. These accounts describe the trip as a previously scheduled diplomatic engagement rather than an emergency departure.
Adding to the speculation, Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah has reportedly been sworn in as Regent, assuming the King’s constitutional duties during his absence. In Jordan, appointing the Crown Prince as Regent while the monarch is abroad is a standard constitutional procedure and does not, by itself, indicate a political crisis or that the King has fled the country.
