Iran Claims to Have Shot Down U.S. LUCAS One-Way Attack Drone
Tehran – July 20 – Iran has released images and video purportedly showing the wreckage of a U.S. LUCAS one-way attack drone near Bandar Abbas, claiming it was intercepted by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) air defense system while approaching the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian authorities said the drone was brought down during an attempted strike, and published footage of the alleged debris as evidence.
The LUCAS is a low-cost one-way attack drone reportedly developed by SpektreWorks, with an estimated unit cost of around $35,000. It is designed for mass production and attritable operations, with analysts noting similarities in concept to Iran’s Shahed-136.
The authenticity of the released images, the claimed interception, and the identity of the wreckage have not been independently verified.
